Shiun is so emo. I hate the layout on this page and the lack of backgrounds, it's almost as bad as the Kuurenzi battle D: The next page (15) will be the last for a while, but I'm not ditching Senka, it'll be back. More info next week. The vote incentive is a close-up of the first panel, in case you wanted to see how wobbly everything looks before it's resized (actually, the incentive is resized too, it's 200dpi, but the original scan is 600dpi).

Dreaded doing that bottom panel, but it ended up not being so bad. I am considering taking a break from Senka for a few weeks. If I do, it will be after page 15, which is a pretty nice break point (this story ends). When I come back, I'll have lots of buffer pages, which should really help with the stress. School is about to start, and I would really like to put lots of time into the future pages of Senka instead of crapping them out between lectures and work. I'd love to hear what you guys think. The vote incentive is more stuff from the BD pages. I love their height difference.

That's probably the only hug he ever got. I think my little Senka-block is over. I got sick and didn't think I'd get to do a page today, but I did. This week's vote incentive is more Black Dram (my other comic) art. BD is filled with Draco making happy faces, and after all those :) :D =D 8D etc, Shiun's :| is actually more difficult to draw... I hope you guys don't mind the Black Dram incentives. Aside from Senka pages, which I can't really share early, BD is all I've been doing.

Meet Ria. She likes flowers, apparently. ...she is also the first female in Senka. The kuurenzi in chapter 1 doesn't count, as those are sexless. Yesterday, I inked page 14 of this chapter. ...this is significant, as it was the last of the pages I pencilled in... April? May? A long time ago. I've learned a lot about comicking since then, and pages 15+ should be way, way better. Heck, page 14 is probably the worst comic page I've ever made. I am looking forward to pages 15+ a lot! There might be a slight style change, but I think it'll be for the better. Now I just need to gather up the energy actually pencil pages 15+. I've been so into working on my other comic recently that working on Senka again seems like this weird, alien concept. I hope I can overcome that. The vote incentive is a comparison of Shiun's face from page 16 of chapter 1 as it changed between drafts (thumb, pencils, inks). I've gotten more consistent since then. Other comic news: I am hoping to start it no later than mid-February, but hopefully much sooner than that. I wish I had worked up a buffer like this for Senka, haha. Live and learn. ...Obligatory reminder about my Formspring and that there are still books for sale.

Osnaps, this comic just turned hella serious. I've been working on a new comic recently, so if you're reading Senka for the pretty men (man?) rather than the trees, look forward to it ;D I've been having a lot of fun, so I hope that I can keep going with it and start putting it online soon. It's more fun than Senka so far, which makes me sad ): But don't worry, I will still keep working on Senka, as it's still a lot of fun as well. ...it just doesn't make me have giggle fits like this one does. This week's incentive is me playing around with the hair on the dudes in this new comic to see if their faces still look right.

I hope you like the darkness, there's more to come. This is half of a two-page spread, sort of . It's not a real two-page spread as the two pages are separate and were made separately, but the art matches up fairly closely. In case you like a little more text with your updates, I've updated the Wiki with articles on Senka and Shiun (watch out for some spoilers, skip the middle two paragraphs in the Kirie section if you don't want to spoil chapter 2). You can get to the Wiki from the About page. Hopefully I'll have more articles for next week. Maybe something more in-depth ;D The vote incentive is a sneak peek at page 11.

Ugh, going to use dip pens again after this, the liners bleed. News! There is now a Wiki for this comic. There are only a couple of articles now, but I hope to write a few more each week. If there's something you want to know first, don't hesitate to request an article. Check it out though, there's a map of the entire planet! More news! Since, as you could tell, the upcoming pages are "black" pages and are probably less exciting than pages with faces and stuff, I am thinking of updating the Side Stories. Not sure yet, but if I do, I'll post a link! I also changed the site layout a little, added an about page... I'm getting ready for a slightly bigger change in the future xP ...a change that might bring some PW ads with it. Would you guys be okay with a few small ads on the page?

Oops! Almost an hour late, I got carried away with something else. This is probably my favourite page of this chapter, it's all downhill from here xD Gave myself a little challenge with this one. Normally, I use liner pens for most of my inking (except hair, for which I use brushes and brush pens), but this time I only used a liner for the panel borders. Everything else is brush, brushpen, and dip pen. This week's incentive is my "studio," but I vaguely recall doing something like this already...

Oops his eye is leaking off his face. I got my shipment of Senka books yesterday, so they are no longer pre-orders. I will ship out the pre-ordered ones tomorrow, and from now on, if you order books, they'll be shipped out within a couple of days :3 This week's vote incentive is an example of the kind of sketch you can get with the Shuyi book. Also, I now have a Formspring page. I'll be using that to answer questions instead of the chapterly FAQ pages as I said earlier. So, feel free to ask questions there. Another edit: The next page may be a few hours late, as I will be at AnimeNEXT and might not get back home until after the usual time.

I only got ~~five~~ six questions, whoops. But maybe that's a good thing, things haven't been terribly confusing. Yet. I think I'm going to do one of these after every chapter. Future chapters will be longer and have more going on, so there will probably be more questions. ~~Chapter 2 starts next week!~~ I'm not sure if I'll be home to upload the next page on time, so it might either be a couple of days late, or, at worst, I'll skip the next week. I'm not sure what's going on yet.

Last page of chapter 1! Believe it or not, Shiun there isn't copypasta, he's redrawn completely. This is the "toothbrush" page I made reference to back in March... I will be taking next week off. Possibly the week after that too, but probably not. To make up for it, I'll have a double update in the first week of June, since I will be participating in NaNoMangO and making lots of pages. So, in anticipation, I'm taking it easy this month. To keep things interesting between now and the start of chapter 2, I will be answering any questions you might have as the next update. Just leave a comment and ask anything about anything, it doesn't even have to be about Senka. The only off-limits stuff is obviously spoiler-like things like "What happens at the end?" xP

Annnd we're back to unfail. News! I am working on the printed version of chapter 1. There will be two versions of the book. I am thinking of setting up a pre-order for the comic. I am not sure exactly how I'll do it, but anticipate using Paypal. If you're interested, tell me so I can see whether setting up something fancy is worthwhile, or if doing it the easy way is enough. I will have a page with more information on the books up soon.
